The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans. Our main responsibilities are:

- Funding supports for municipalities
- A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders
- Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans
- Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province's three Special Areas
- Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal

**Role Responsibilities**:
**Ensures the Quality, Accuracy and Timeliness of all Correspondence and Written Materials Submitted to the Deputy Minister and Minister offices.**
- Maintains frequent ongoing contact with DMO and MO and Works closely with the ECU Manager, Team Lead and writers to ensure all needs and expectations of the MO/DMO/MLAs/Stakeholders, as identified in correspondence,are met.
- Supports the coordination of ministry resources for timely and accurate responses to internal and external correspondence, including writing campaigns.
- Provides quality assurance of ministry ARs for both timeliness and quality and proofing the Minister's and DM's correspondence and briefings for grammar, spelling, formatting etc and may involve consultation with the Ministerial Correspondence Writers, Team Lead and Manager on content revisions.
- Maintains frequent contact and liaison with the MO/DMO to ensure style and formatting preferences for ARs are being upheld and supports the ECU Team in meeting these expectations.
- Assists in ensuring ECU resource materials, including the Style Guide, are posted on the intranet and are kept up to date.

**Coordinates Joint-ministry AR Responses**
- Consults with ADMOS, DMOs, MOs to determine needs for joint responses, including establishing the lead ministry, content, input, approval and signature protocols and timelines for completion.
- Works with correspondence units in other ministries to establish agreements on these matters, employing the full range of municipal affairs resources, as needed, to solve any issues in reaching agreement. Takes the lead in ensuring all external and internal processes are completed on time and meet expectations, with the necessary approvals and appropriate notifications to all parties, internal and external.**Coordinates Ministry Responses to Writing Campaigns**Provides Representation for the Department in Relation to AR Management**
- Participates in the semi-monthly Arts Best Practices Committee (BPC) to ensure effective cross ministry coordination, consistency in ARTS management across departments, bring ARTS issues and operational challenges for discussion and resolution, and to share best practices.

**Provide Cover-off for Key Personnel**
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the ARTS system and associated positions in order to perform all duties in the absence of essential division, DMO or MO staff to ensure continuity of operations.
