Our mission is to reduce homelessness through advocacy, education, empathy, and community building. We serve community members who are currently experiencing homelessness as well as those experiencing other forms of housing insecurity.

We are a not-for-profit, registered charitable society governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and have been an integral part of our community, providing essential emergency and transitional beds, housing support, diversion and navigational services since 2014.

**JOB TITLE**: Communication and Strategy Coordinator Student

**SUMMARY**:

- $15/hour, 35 hours/week for 13 weeks each.
- Anticipated start date of May 8th, 2023, however there is some flexibility.
- Members of the following designated diversity groups are encouraged to self-identify: Mi’kmaq or Indigenous, African Nova Scotians, visible minorities, persons with disabilities (consisting of a physical, cognitive or mental impairment that presents a persistent barrier to work).
- Most of the duties can be conducted remotely with occasional meetings taking place on site at 29 Arthur St. Truro.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Communication and Strategy Coordinator will support the creation and implementation of a multi-year strategic plan to map out the path between our current program delivery model and our goal of obtaining and operating affordable, transitional and permanent supportive housing in the future.
- The student will also assist with other organizational support opportunities such as general administration tasks, policy and procedural documentation updates, improving internal and external communication, social media management, delivering educational presentations and seek opportunities for optimal inter-agency collaboration and community engagement.

**DUTIES**:

- Providing on site administrative support such as responding to electronic inquiries, filing, coordinating donation drop offs and social media management.
- Planning and executing in person or virtual events that provide opportunities for THOS educate the public on the services we offer and/or volunteer recruitment activities.
- Internal policy and procedural documentation creation and editing.
- Organization of our cloud based file database.
- Establishes good rapport, professional boundaries and builds appropriate relationships with clients, coworkers and external stakeholders.
- Provides support to clients from a person-centered, trauma informed approach.
- Tracks work completed and reports to supervisor on progress weekly.
- Other related tasks as assigned.

**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**:

- They will be self-driven, organized, goal orientated and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- They will understand the importance of effective time management and able to complete deadline-based projects under little supervision, with integrity and attention to detail, reporting on work completed regularly.
- They will understand the importance of positive and professional interpersonal relationships with teammates, community members and stakeholders. They will exercise sound judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Have access to a quiet space and reliable internet is required as most work will be remote.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 13 weeks

**Salary**: $15.00 per hour
