We’re looking for an experienced and strategic sales professional to join our team and focus on small and midsize business clients, in the role of Sales Executive.

We would love for the ideal candidate to live in (or nearby) Calgary, but the role can be remote if needed.

Our sales team takes a highly consultative approach to selling. We’re looking for an intelligent and innovative senior sales professional who understands the art of listening and solving customers’ problems and can apply those skill sets to SMB clients. The ideal candidate has a hunter mentality and proven experience with inbound and outbound sales; and is keenly focussed on lead generation and continuously improving their closing ratio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute strategic sales plans to achieve personal sales targets, monthly company objectives, and revenue targets within the SMB segment.
  • Identify and close new business opportunities through intent data, proactive outbound prospecting, networking, and lead generation activities.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closure, including qualifying leads, conducting product demonstrations, negotiating contracts, and closing deals.
  • Receive, manage, and close inbound leads as received.
  • Actively seek out and identify key prospects and new opportunities through cold calling, networking, and social media.
  • Proactively reach out to key decision-makers through various channels, including cold calling, email outreach, and social events.
  • Actively build, maintain, and continuously grow your pipeline.
  • Leverage inbound leads and optimize lead conversion.
  • Attend relevant, industry and product training to facilitate opportunity spotting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, and customer success, to align sales efforts with personal sales targets, overall company objectives, and customer requirements.
  • Provide valuable client feedback to internal teams to drive service improvements, enhance customer experience, and effectively address market demands.

Sales Performance Tracking and Reporting:

  • Utilize CRM tools and other sales management systems to maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipelines, and forecasts.

Market Research and Competitive Analysis:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage.
  • Conduct regular market research and gather customer insights to refine sales approaches and positioning strategies continually.

Community Events and Trade Shows:

  • Attend networking events as required
  • Attend and represent The Virtual Gurus at trade shows and conferences as required (including some out-of-town travel).
How do you know if this role is for you?
  • Your Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is an asset.
  • Your experience selling services will help you succeed in this Sales Executive role.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, and your proven track record of success in SMB sales makes you the envy of your colleagues.
  • You have a strong understanding of and are keenly interested in, SMB market dynamics, customer needs, and buying behaviors.
  • You’re known for your adaptable nature, and you recognize change to be a driving force of growth.
  • You are often commended for your excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • You can work well independently, and you are a natural at prioritizing tasks and managing your time effectively.
  • You pride yourself on your problem-solving skills and you work hard to remain detail-oriented.
  • Your proficiency in different CRMs, specifically Hubspot, will support your success.
  • Your experience and ability to work with Google Workspace will come in handy.
  • You are willing (and even excited) to travel when it’s required.
