Summary As a member of the Infrastructure team, the Cloud Systems Administrator is an experienced Azure Cloud Administrator with a strong focus on infrastructure management and a deep understanding of the Microsoft Azure Well-Architected Framework. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost‑optimized Azure environments that align with best practices across the five pillars: Cost Optimization, Operational Excellence, Performance Efficiency, Reliability, and Security. The incumbent in this role will bring deep technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a collaborative spirit to support our evolving cloud strategy. Key Duties & Responsibilities Deploy, configure, and oversee Azure resources including Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Storage Accounts, Load Balancers, and Firewalls. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates or Bicep for consistent deployments. Configure and maintain Azure networking components such as VNets, VPN Gateways, Azure Firewalls, and NSGs. Implement Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and alerts for proactive system health monitoring. Apply governance using Azure Policy, Blueprints, and Management Groups. Assess and optimize Azure environments based on the five pillars of the Well‑Architected Framework. Provide recommendations for cost optimization, security hardening, and performance improvements. Draft policies and procedures and work to implement strategies and standards. Document system configurations, installations and procedures. Use PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation of routine tasks. Maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, and related apps. Administer user accounts, licenses, and permissions through Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Maintain hybrid AD/Entra ID and on‑premises Exchange/Exchange Online configuration. Configure integrations and provide deployment support for enterprise systems connecting to the cloud environment. Monitor service health and resolve incidents related to M365 services. Provide Tier 2/3 support for M365‑related issues. Enforce security best practices, perform security hardening and participate in patch remediation when required. Implement and monitor security policies, Conditional Access, MFA, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP). Maintain Role Based Access Control and Privileged Identity Management. Maintain VMware vSphere virtualization environment in on‑premises infrastructure. Familiarity with wireless infrastructure support (Meraki) an asset. Configure and maintain Azure Backup and Site Recovery solutions. Support on‑premises workloads for Disaster Recovery and migrations to Azure. Support on‑premises Veeam backup solutions with tiered off‑site backups to Azure. Support on‑premises storage systems (SAN, NAS, Object storage). Provide guidance and training to support staff and end‑users on M365 tools and features. Provide direct technical support and complex problem solving when required. Follow all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD. Perform other related duties as required. Certifications Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104) Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305) or Well‑Architected Framework experience is preferred Key Skills & Abilities Familiarity with supporting and configuring Cisco layer 2 and 3 devices in an enterprise environment. Familiarity with supporting enterprise firewalling technologies (Palo Alto Networks/Cisco) an asset. Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS and PaaS services. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Azure CLI. Thorough understanding of networking, security, and governance in Azure. Strong knowledge of Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive. Experience with Entra ID, SSO, security policies, and compliance tools. Experience with VMware virtualization solutions an asset. Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Cisco Meraki MX security appliances an asset. Experience configuring Cisco switching and routing an asset. Experience configuring Cisco Meraki wireless access point infrastructure an asset. Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication and Veeam for M365 an asset. Experience with both Windows and Linux server operating systems. Ability to excel in a dynamic environment, including meeting deadlines, ability to work on multiple projects and deliver on time with high quality. Strong assessment and problem‑solving skills, including attention to detail, ability to research, analyse, interpret and summarise issues. Capable of communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non‑technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form to clarify end‑user requirements, communicate complex technical terminology and provide explanations to non‑technical users. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain good working relationships with professionalism, tact and a collaborative approach. Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, support, and training to users and stakeholders. Qualifications Degree in a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years’ directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience. One or more directly related certifications.
