What is the Opportunity As a Cloud Governance Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technical governance across RBC’s Hybrid Cloud and Intelligent Operations program. Your mission is to design, author, and maintain cloud controls that define secure, compliant, and scalable cloud platform configurations across Azure, AWS, and GCP. You will translate enterprise risk, regulatory requirements, and architectural principles into clear, actionable, and technically precise platform controls, ensuring they are enforceable through automation (e.g., guardrails, policy-as-code). This role demands a focus on control clarity, consistency, and enforceability, balancing governance rigor with engineering practicality. Key Impact Enable RBC’s cloud transformation by establishing a robust governance framework that mitigates risk while fostering innovation. What will you do Author and maintain cloud platform controls, ensuring technical precision, platform specificity, and clarity on mandatory vs. discretionary requirements. Translate enterprise and regulatory expectations into risk-aligned, platform-implementable technical controls, collaborating with Cloud Security, Risk & Compliance, and Architecture teams. Manage the end-to-end controls lifecycle (draft, review, approve, publish, retire), including versioning, change control, and periodic relevance reviews. Define guardrail intent for platform standards, ensuring technical enforceability via tools like Azure Policy, AWS SCPs, and GCP Org Policies, and validating policy logic. Support exception workflows by assessing deviations, proposing compensating controls, and providing technical input for risk acceptance decisions. Act as a trusted advisor to product and engineering teams, explaining control rationale, application, and compliance expectations. Drive continuous improvement by refining controls based on monitoring feedback, eliminating ambiguity, and recommending new controls as platforms evolve. What do you need to succeed 5+ years of experience in cloud governance, architecture, or engineering roles. Deep hands‑on expertise in at least two of Azure, AWS, or GCP, including core services and architecture. Strong understanding of cloud fundamentals: service models (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), shared responsibility, landing zones, and multi‑account design. Expertise in cloud security domains: Identity & access, network security, logging/telemetry, encryption, and container platforms (e.g., Kubernetes). Ability to author clear, enforceable technical controls and align them with regulatory, risk, and compliance frameworks. Exceptional communication to translate complex technical concepts for leadership, engineering, risk and compliance teams. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to analyze complex, ambiguous technical challenges and decompose them into actionable steps. Exposure to regulatory frameworks (OSFI, NIST, ISO, CSA CCM, etc.). Nice‑to‑have CISSP, CCSP, CISM, cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GCP) Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services) What’s in it for you A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities Ability to make a difference and lasting impact Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high‑performing team A world‑class training program in financial services Flexible work/life balance options Opportunities to do challenging work Job Skills Cloud Computing, Cloud Platform, Information Technology Trends, IT Service Design, IT Service Management (ITSM), Organizational Change Management, Product Services, Risk Management, Systems Thinking, Transformation Strategy Additional Job Details Address: RBC CENTRE, 155 WELLINGTON ST W:TORONTO City: Toronto Country: Canada Work hours/week: 37.5 Employment Type: Full time Platform: TECHNOLOGY AND OPERATIONS Job Type: Regular Pay Type: Salaried Posted Date: 2025-09-18 Application Deadline: 2026-01-12 Inclusion and Equal Opportunity Employment At RBC, we believe an inclusive workplace that has diverse perspectives is core to our continued growth as one of the largest and most successful banks in the world.
