The Town of Cochrane, located in northeastern Ontario, serves a population of about 6,000 residents, with a nearly even split between anglophone and francophone communities. The municipality has experienced recent growth and offers opportunities across mining, forestry, transportation, finance, healthcare, and administration sectors. The Town’s low property taxes and quality of life amenities make it an attractive place to relocate. Your Opportunity to make a Difference We are currently seeking two Executive Coordinators/Assistants (“EA”). One role will support the Mayor, with an emphasis on external communications, while the other will support the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), focusing on internal communications, council priorities, effective operations, and confidential support. The positions are non‑union, exempt, and involve confidential matters such as labour negotiations, legal issues, and senior‑personnel files. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, political acuity, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Ideal Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an executive assistant or legal/HR support role, preferably within a municipal or public sector environment involving confidential and labour‑related matters. Organization & Project Management: Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Board/Council Governance: High level of political acuity, discretion, and professionalism; familiarity with municipal government operations, labour environments, and governance processes is a strong asset. Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with content management systems is an asset. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven experience managing confidential and privileged information; bilingualism in English/French considered an asset. Education: Post‑secondary education in business administration, public administration, legal studies, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Benefits of Working with the Town of Cochrane Location: Centrally located along Highway 11, close to Timmins and Kapuskasing. Surrounded by forests, rivers, and lakes, providing an exceptional quality of life. Active Lifestyle: Access to hiking, golf, cross‑country skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, boating, and community facilities such as the Tim Horton Event Centre and the Commando Pavilion. Housing: Affordable options with upcoming lot purchase program, including waterfront living. Healthcare: Community hospital, long‑term care home, and family health team providing comprehensive primary care. Education: Strong elementary and secondary schools in both official languages.
