This role is responsible for identifying and securing business event opportunities within an assigned market, while proactively driving the growth of Calgary TELUS Convention Centre's market share both now and into the future.Lead business development efforts primarily for the international business events market, while remaining flexible to shift focus toward other markets as needed to align with business goals and expand market share across all segments.Consult with prospective clients and build relationships to expand the customer base and foster loyalty for international corporate and association events (e.g., li>Qualify leads, prospect new opportunities, and conduct sales meetings, including in-person, email, and phone solicitations.Prepare comprehensive proposals, sales presentations, contracts, and invoices, ensuring prompt follow-up on leads and securing signatures and payments by due dates.Negotiate contracts and secure the best opportunities based on market conditions and economic impact.Collaborate with industry partners, local champions, and stakeholders (e.g., Tourism Calgary, Destination Canada) to align sales strategies and develop synergies.Represent and promote the CTCC at trade shows, conventions, and industry events, hosting client site visits and familiarization tours.Develop and execute an annual sales activity plan with financial targets, as part of the overall sales budget.Promote Calgary and the CTCC through marketing, networking, and research, working with contacts who influence decision-makers to bring events to Calgary.Manage and enhance relationships with local, national, and international organizations, including academic and business communities, to win international congresses.Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop bid books, presentations, and proposals for international bids.Maintain accurate client and sales activity data in event management software and ensure a smooth transition to the Event Management team.Prospecting: Understanding one’s own company and its offerings, the client’s business challenges, and the characteristics of the market in which it operates ensures that sales professionals work efficiently and participate in client conversions productively.Building Relationships: Builds both formal and informal professional relationships. li>Communications for Results: Clearly and effectively transmit technical and business concepts, ideas, feelings, opinions, and conclusions orally and in writing.Enduring and establishing relationships within the corporate, association, and not-for-profit markets.Possess strong sales intelligence and ability to manage the sales effort to develop, nurture and maintain strong ongoing relationships.Event planning and logistics experience including audiovisual, décor, tradeshow, and catering services would be a definite asset.Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products.Previous experience using a CRM/event booking system and event floorplan software, with experience using Ungerboeck (Momentus) a bonus.Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.A post-secondary education is a definite asset.Experience with the hospitality sales cycle would be considered an asset.The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is Calgary’s meeting place, bringing the community together in a central hub to connect, learn, innovate, celebrate, support, and grow.Connects Calgary with the global community; leveraging our assets to create opportunities that impact the lives of Calgarians and Canadians.
