We are looking for an Ocean Import Coordinator to join our team, a motivated and passionate candidate for a high‑paced, professional environment. Position Overview The Ocean Import Operations Coordinator will be the essential part of our ocean import operations, ensuring that every shipment is handled with precision and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of Canadian import regulations and international ocean freight procedures. The successful candidate will excel at multitasking, problem‑solving, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and service providers. Minimum of 3 years in ocean import operations, with a strong background in freight forwarding or logistics. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate all aspects of ocean import operations, from initial planning to final delivery, ensuring compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards. Ensure all shipments comply with Canadian customs regulations, including preparing and reviewing documentation such as bills of lading, customs declarations, and commercial invoices. Act as the primary point of contact for ocean carriers, customs brokers, and clients, providing regular updates on shipment status and addressing any issues promptly. Monitor the progress of shipments to ensure timely delivery, proactively managing any potential delays or disruptions in the supply chain. Handle claims related to cargo damages, discrepancies, or other issues, ensuring satisfactory resolutions while maintaining strong client relationships. Maintain meticulous records of all import activities, including timely billing, and generate detailed reports for clients and the sales team as needed. Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in ocean freight forwarding, contributing to continuous improvement within the team. Assist with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for ocean import operations. Demonstrate an emphasis on customer satisfaction in line with company policy. Serve as a backup for alternate accounts. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Qualifications In‑depth knowledge of Canadian customs procedures and IMO regulations, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance. Proficient in logistics and supply chain management software, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and build rapport with clients and partners. Highly detail‑oriented, with the ability to accurately process large volumes of documentation and data. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges in the import process. Post‑secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, international trade, or a related field is preferred.
