Finance & Payroll Assistant - 15 month contractSome of what you will do: This role is designed to provide support across the Finance department while fostering financial acumen and analytical capabilities. The position will support the Payroll and Benefits Administration team with administrative and document management tasks, and assist other teams within Finance with data preparation, reporting, and coordination activities. This hybrid role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in finance while contributing to operational excellence.Specifically, You Will:Payroll and Benefits Administration Support• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Payroll and Benefits Administration team, including generating various reports, maintaining the ticketing system, processing payments for benefit invoices, issuing correspondence to terminated employees and document management• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirementsFinance Support• Provide support in processing and tracking payments for invoices• Support financial close processes by preparing analyses• Assist in gathering, organizing and validating financial data• Assist in preparing presentations and dashboards for internal stakeholders• Assist in tracking compliance and regulatory reporting requirementsCross-Functional Collaboration• Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth information flow and alignment on finance-related processes• Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline administrative and analytical workflowsSome of what you need:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related fieldPCP certification (or in progress) from the National Payroll Institute is an asset2+ years of experience in an administrative or finance support roleExposure to payroll and finance is an assetStrong organizational and time management skillsBasic understanding of financial principles and payroll processesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experience with payroll systems (e.g. Dayforce) and financial systems (e.g. Oracle) is an assetExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrityAnalytical mindset with attention to detailSome of what you will get:• Associate discount• Health and Dental benefits• RRSP/DPSP• Performance bonuses• Learning & Development programs• And more...About UsStaples Canada is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion and we encourage applications from all qualified candidates, including those with disabilities.About the TeamAt Staples Canada we are dynamic, inspiring partners to our customers and the communities in which we live.
