The Role

Reporting to the VP, Treasury and Investor Operations, the Associate Director, Treasury will be responsible for the cash management operations for the MCAP Group of Companies. The primary focus will be to manage the liquidity requirements of the Company, comply with credit facilities, maximize net interest spread, report liquidity status to senior management and develop and maintain relationships with our principal bankers. This role will also oversee and manage the accounting, reconciliation, cash forecasting, and cash investment activities for both corporate and trust funds. This role will establish and maintain strong internal controls surrounding all cash activities.

Responsibilities

Oversee Cash Management Operations

  • Review liquidity analysis daily to ensure compliance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Review daily cash activity to determine available liquidity for operations and investment of excess trust and corporate cash.
  • Manage warehousing credit facilities to achieve contractual compliance and minimize financing cost.
  • Analyze and summarize reports on the liquidity position and report to senior management on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure staff is appropriately trained and cross-trained to perform all tasks within the Treasury area.
  • Work with Capital Markets to help improve the liquidity and cash forecasting models.

Build and Maintain Relationships with our Principal Bankers

  • Ensure position relations with our corporate bankers and credit facilities.
  • Provide financial information to support bank lines of credit.
  • Co-ordinate with principal bankers to obtain best, more effective banking/reporting solutions.

Accounting and Cash Controls

  • Ensure all cash movements are recorded daily based on standardized accounting entry templates.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are completed and reviewed on a timely basis in line with the accounting close process.
  • Ensure all payment requests are appropriately reviewed and approved prior to the release of funds.
  • Implement changes to WH analysis to reflect facility amendments.
  • Ensure all processes are documented and stored in a centralized location accessible to all Treasury staff.
  • Conduct quarterly audit of online banking access and co-ordinate the setup of new signatory requirements.
  • Co-ordinate quarterly attestation of credit agreement.

Lead and Manage Staff

  • Champion the company’s Vision, Mission and Values as set out in the Strategic Plan both internally and externally within the industry.
  • Provide leadership, direction and motivation to staff in order to facilitate the achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Establish, monitor and communicate performance standards to direct reports, reinforcing individual results, work quality, continuous improvement, teamwork and achievement of MCAP’s objectives.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, performance management and termination of staff.
  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the business unit.
  • Ensure a continuous improvement culture is established and encouraged.
  • Conduct performance reviews to provide staff with feedback.

What You Bring To The Team

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role in the mortgage industry.
  • 3+ years experience in managing staff.
  • Ability to engage staff and influence performance within sustainable operational processes and workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying complexities in a fast-paced and diverse environment with competing priorities.
  • Self-starter and results oriented with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in accounting and internal controls.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to coordinate staff to ensure deadlines are met while producing quality work.
  • Ability to lead change initiatives and to foster a positive employee relations environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff at all levels and to respond to stakeholders’ needs.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency of Excel, MARS.
  • Working knowledge of AS400, Lawson, Word, Outlook.
  • Business Degree/Diploma with a focus on accounting and/or economics preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent business and industry experience.
