Opportunity Overview:

This role serves as an entry point into Group Treasury, a department within Scotiabank that acts as a trusted partner to lending, deposit, and capital market operations. The team assists in accurately pricing products, providing necessary funding for customer loans, and managing complex tasks such as liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and contingency planning to ensure the Bank's safety and profitability.

This position is specifically designed to offer an opportunity to work within a centralized team that supports all of Group Treasury, known as the Treasury Central Office. Over time, you will gain insights into banking operations, the Treasury function, and develop specialized knowledge in areas that will facilitate your career advancement in Banking. We aspire for you to rotate through various teams within Group Treasury as you grow and progress in your career with Scotiabank.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People and Culture Programs:
    • Contribute innovative ideas and support the Treasury Central Office in enhancing the culture of Group Treasury.
    • Collaborate with the Director and Head, along with the Associate Director, Programs, to develop initiatives and communication strategies that ensure Group Treasury staff feel engaged and empowered, leading to improved job satisfaction.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Learn how the Bank manages its personnel, processes, technology, and compliance risks by assisting the Directors and Associate Directors in creating governance documents and executing trading controls, as well as monitoring and reporting on non-financial risks in our operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in business, finance, accounting, treasury, or project management is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective team-building abilities, working collaboratively with diverse groups to resolve issues and identify efficiencies.
  • Capability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key business partners.
  • Proficient PC skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
