Position: Early Childhood Educator Assistant
Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $20.00/hour (depending on experience)
Number of Positions: 1
Work Location: F120 805 Boyd Street, New Westminster, BC V3M 5X2
Benefits: 10 days paid vacation per year, Extended medical and dental plan
Job Duties:
- Support early childhood educators in implementing childcare programs that nurture the physical, mental, emotional, and social growth of children
- Take the lead in activities such as storytelling, reading, teaching songs, and organizing visits to local points of interest for children
- Participate in staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges of children
- Provide opportunities for creative expression through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities
- Engage children in various activities, including storytelling, teaching songs, and facilitating craft projects
- Teach children to develop proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in maintaining records and notes
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Observe children for potential learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- Manage daycare equipment and contribute to cleaning and cooking duties
- Plan an environment that safeguards the health, security, and overall well-being of children
- Demonstrate knowledge of licensing regulations
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers involved in working with children
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discussing progress or challenges with parents and other staff members
Job Requirements:
- Experience: 1~7 months of experience in childcare is required
- Education: Completion of secondary school is required
- Certificate: First Aid Certificate & CPR Certificate and E.C.E.A Certificate (ECE level 1)
- Security and Safety: Criminal record check and medical exam are required
- Personal Suitability: Reliability and team playing performance is required
