Duties / Responsibilities
- Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Develop policies and procedures that control the procurement of all products to meet company and customer requirements.
- Effective evaluation of RFQ’s for cost of purchased products/services, taking into account product performance, price and delivery.
- Work collaboratively with Sales to ensure pricing meets budgetary requirements and with Scheduling/Planning to ensure sufficient quantities are secured to meet manufacturing’s needs.
- Contract with approved suppliers for raw materials, supplies, equipment and services, entering purchases into the ERP system and confirmed for accuracy upon receipt.
- Run open order reports daily and follow up with suppliers to ensure the expediting of on time/JIT deliveries.
- Assist Shipping/Receiving with purchase orders, related discrepancies and variances.
- Assist Accounting with invoice discrepancies and inquiries.
- Maintain monthly metrics and attend continuous improvements meetings and complete projects, as required.
- Process, monitor and report on non-conforming product resulting from supplier deviation.
- Review and report on supplier performance regularly to improve service level deliverables.
- Maintain purchasing records, test reports and/or certification for material and services purchased.
- Coordinate sale and disposal of manufacturing bi-products.
- Coordinate building/equipment repairs and maintenance services.
- Investigate, identify and develop new suppliers/alternative sources of supply following process requirements.
- Set up and manage the Tool Boss catalogue.
- Maintain appropriate tooling inventory levels. Follow up with machine operators on tooling needs and changes.
- Source and order new tooling and equipment, as required, for the production work orders
- Process Team Member Tooling purchase requests.
- Understand the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) and Quality Management System (QMS)Skills and Educational Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Business or minimum of 3 years related experience in purchasing, procurement or equivalent.
- Completion of PMAC certification, an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of metal fabrication, precision machining, an asset.
- Ability to read technical drawings including BOMs and CAD.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP systems
- Knowledge of ISO programs Other Attributes.
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner both verbally and in writing with all levels of the team and their external customers.
- High organizational skills.
- Ability to workday shift and stay late, as required.
- Take initiative to problem solve or troubleshoot and provide solutions.
- Extensive use of computer
