POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC Advisory Services helps Canadian entrepreneurs acquire the knowledge and know-how to build strong, successful businesses by providing them with practical advice through management consulting solutions.

In this role, as a key member of our Advisory Services team, you will be primarily responsible for generating new business and nurturing relationships with existing BDC clients. You will use your strong business development and sales skills to build and nurture your own portfolio of new clients. You will also apply your strong business acumen to identify new opportunities, assess client business needs and propose advisory solutions to address these needs.

You will be working with cross-functional teams to generate impact and support BDC’s commitment in making Canadian entrepreneurs the most competitive in the world. CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Continuously open new doors and establish relationships with current and prospective customers through a variety of digital and in-person techniques.

  • Manage your business development activities to maintain and nurture a solid pipeline of opportunities in order to achieve yearly sales and revenue objectives.

  • Using strategic questioning and diagnostic tools and methods, identify and recommend the right BDC advisory solution.

  • Develop a growing role as your client’s go-to person for general business advice that extends beyond the immediate scope of the project and aligns with their strategic objectives.

  • Manage and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal stakeholders in and beyond BDC Advisory Services.

  • Work closely with the projects delivery team and other internal stakeholders to ensure quality proposal development, smooth delivery of advisory solutions and client satisfaction.

  • Continuously improve your knowledge on areas pertaining to the economic conditions and key industry sectors within your assigned geographical market/territory.

  • Regularly gather market intelligence to stay aware of the changing needs and issues of businesses in the region.

  • Stay up to date with trends and changes in the business environment as well as on BDC Advisory solutions. Leverage corporate assets and cross-functional capabilities to ensure maximized client value and develop additional BDC opportunities across the organization.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

If you can answer yes to the following questions, you may be the person we are looking for:

  • Do you have 10 years + of experience in professional consultative B2B business development within the services sector or within a consulting firm, along with a proven track record of achieving business development objectives or have 10 years + owning and operating a successful business with revenues over 5M?

  • Do you have successful experience in dealing with entrepreneurs and C-suite executives who lead fast-growing companies?

  • Do you have the “get things done” attitude needed to achieve individual and team goals?

  • Are you a self-starter? Do you motivate people? Are you also results oriented?

  • Do you have a passion for supporting private companies in your local community (Sales of 5M – 50M) and helping Canadian entrepreneurs become the most competitive in the world?

  • Do you excel at solving problems and resolving conflicts through logical reasoning, quick creative thinking, and strong listening skills?

  • Do you have a professional designation? Do you hold a post-secondary degree or diploma?

  • You have successful experience in maintaining relationships with existing clients and developing new business with new clients.

  • You have a track record of inspiring, influencing and leading internal and client teams through complex multidisciplinary and multiyear business growth and performance enhancement strategic initiatives.

  • You have a high degree of professionalism and autonomy coupled with assertive and clear communication.

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.
