YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Sr. Tailings & Water Management Engineer, you will be part of the Mill Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Support the sr. tailings & water management engineer, tailings coordinator, mill operations, and design engineers to carry out projects in all types of integrated mill tailings and water management systems (tailings dams and deposition, seepage control, diversion channels, water management ponds, spillways, etc.) under operating and closure conditions;
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals, trade-off studies, feasibility to detailed engineering studies, and engineering reports involving tailings disposal systems;
  • Provide technical training to mill operations team;
  • Contributing technical and process engineering expertise for effluent treatment
  • Developing, maintaining and evaluating the site water balance model;
  • Potential to perform other tasks as part of your role in the team;
  • Working with multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams to participate in developing integrated tailings, and mine water management solutions;
  • Developing CapEx and OpEx cost estimates and schedules;
  • Planning and monitoring of tailings dam deposition and stability;
  • Preparing and evaluating technical engineering documentation including reports, technical specifications and design basis memorandums, as well as coordinating to help prepare drawings.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Chemical, or Civil engineering with a minimum of two years in the mining sector (tailings practice and mine water management) preferred;
  • Knowledge of tailing storage facility design concepts, water chemistry and associated water management infrastructure (channels, ponds and spillways);
  • Good understanding of tailings management facilities, and mine water balances;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

YOUR WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Schedule: 4/3 or 5/2 schedule at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
