About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Dewatering Systems Engineer to join our Environment Department at Agnico Eagle. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of water systems for surface, open pit, and underground dewatering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, size, and project manage water systems for surface, open pit, and underground dewatering, including pump and piping systems;
  • Prepare engineering documents, including specifications, design reports, drawings, and as-built reports, for dewatering and tailings deposition infrastructure;
  • Plan and manage water and tailings management activities, such as weekly dewatering plans, spring melt water management, and winter readiness;
  • Analyze the performance of dewatering infrastructure, including pumps and piping;
  • Provide technical expertise and implement engineering solutions to remediate and ensure the performance of the dewatering system;
  • Ensure continuous improvements and optimization of dewatering systems and conduct cost analyses;
  • Perform field work activities, including field inspections and QA/QC on dewatering infrastructure construction projects and commissioning;
  • Manage various mandates with consultants;
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring that safety standards are met for design, construction, and operations of water management systems;
  • Maintain regular communication and work in collaboration with operations, planners, and the water management specialist to ensure compliance with the site water management strategy;
  • Complete various projects assigned by the Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering Coordinator.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field;
  • 1-5 years of experience with dewatering or water management systems design and troubleshooting;
  • Eligibility for a NAPEG membership;
  • Experience with pumping system design tools;
  • Experience in arctic environments is considered an asset;
  • Experience with industrial-size motor-driven centrifugal pumps and submersible pumps is considered an asset;
  • Project management experience is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
