Dewatering Engineer

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
:Reporting to the Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering Coordinator, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will also ensure that the mine dewatering and surface water management goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Design, sizing and project management of water systems for surface, open pit and underground dewatering (pump and piping systems); Prepare engineering document including specifications, design report, drawings, as-built reports, technical and operational specifications for dewatering and tailings deposition infrastructure (pumps and piping); Plan water and tailings management activities, such as weekly dewatering plan, spring melt water management, winter readiness, tailings deposition plan; Analyze the performance of the dewatering infrastructure (pumps and piping); Provide technical expertise and implement engineering solution to remediate and ensure the performance of the dewatering system (pumps and piping); Ensure continuous improvements and optimization of dewatering systems and conduct cost analyses; Perform field work activities including field inspection and QA/QC on of dewatering infrastructure construction project and commissioning; Management of various mandates with consultants; Promote a safe work environment by ensuring that safety standards are met for design, construction and operations of water management system; Maintain regular communication and work in collaboration with operations, planners and the water management specialist to ensure compliance to the site water management strategy; Complete various projects assigned by the Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering Coordinator.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Water Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field; 1-5 years of experience with dewatering or water management systems design and troubleshooting; Eligibility for a NAPEG membership; Experience with pumping system design tool; Experience in arctic environments is considered an asset; Experience with industrial size motor driven centrifugal pumps and submersible pumps is considered an asset; Project management experience is considered an asset; Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
