Job Summary:

  • The Hospitality and Engagement Specialist role is part of REACH’s Integrated Care team that supports ETS’ mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness.
  • The Hospitality and Engagement Specialist position is responsible for welcoming clients into the REACH Milieu space and connecting them with the services/resources they are seeking. This position will foster relationships and community building by providing patient-centered services from a harm reduction perspective utilizing motivational interviewing, therapeutic verbal de-escalation, and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • This role makes a critical difference at ETS by developing positive relationships with all ETS staff and collaborating with others to coordinate and deliver services effectively. The nature of this position is extremely independent, requiring creative thinking, excellent interpersonal relationships, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • De-escalation skills and the ability to prevent conflicts by proactively intervening when people exhibit challenging behaviors associated with intoxication or other behavioral health conditions are required. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and regular multi-tasking as well as the ability to develop systems to maintain safety and the flow of clients in the milieu.
  • The position is full-time onsite, and the days and hours are M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $77,000. ETS strives to achieve pay equity and transparency as part of our goal to create an equitable workplace.

What you contribute to this role – Responsibilities:

  • Help ETS succeed in carrying out our mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness.
  • Assist with the organization-wide initiative to reimagine our interconnectedness within our community.
  • Help create a safe and therapeutic environment by letting patients in the door and welcoming them to the ETS space.
  • Serve as the point person on the REACH Hospitality & Engagement team to provide milieu services for clients who are Spanish-speaking.
  • Develop rapport and trusting relationships with clients through respectful, person-centered engagement practices.
  • Orient new clients to the space(s) and facilitates client flow in and out of the space while maintaining a hospitable and friendly demeanor.
  • Monitor clients’ activities inside the drop-in space and to the extent of ETS property with the intent to address any potential safety risks or violations of program rules and regulations.
  • Submit incident reports or other relevant documentation when appropriate.
  • Monitor and report hazardous materials and conditions.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and maintain exceptional levels of confidentiality related to 42 CFR part II and HIPAA.
  • Responsible for Markham opening and closing procedures.
  • Conduct bathroom checks.
  • Assist with receiving and stocking supply shipments for the Belltown location.
  • Assist police, fire, EMS, and all other emergency service providers in the performance of their duties while responding to or on ETS property.
  • Respond to all facility alarm activations including security, duress, fire, and intrusion alarms.
  • Help implement systems to support clients in the milieu space with behavioral issues.
  • Help support large client events and activities.
  • Attend ETS team meetings and other required meetings.

What you bring to this role – Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Undergraduate degree highly desirable.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in work related to social work or outreach programs required.
  • Clear understanding of language differences between Spanish communication in Spain and Latin America.
  • Strong knowledge of language and cultural differences amongst Spanish-speaking countries.
  • An understanding of racial justice and social equity and a commitment to helping create an equitable environment for all ETS clients and patients as well as fellow staff.
  • Experience providing services to addicted individuals from a harm reduction perspective preferred.
  • Experience with case management, homelessness, and co-occurring disorders is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently.
  • Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Conditions and Requirements:

  • The employee may be exposed to illicit drug residues and fumes or other bio-hazardous materials when carrying out job functions.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
