Cambrian is a college of applied arts and technology located in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. Established in 1967, and funded by the province of Ontario, Cambrian has campuses in Sudbury, Espanola and Little Current.

The Wabnode Centre for Indigenous Services at Cambrian College helps First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students make the successful transition to college and provides them with ongoing support throughout their college years. They currently have over 600 self-identified Indigenous students enrolled, which represents 20 percent of our domestic student enrolment.

As the first college in Ontario to partner with the National Research Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, Cambrian has received national and international recognition for our work in Indigenous education.  Within this context of inspiring innovation and excellence, Cambrian College’s Wabnode Centre for Indigenous Services requires a full-time Director beginning in August 2024. Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources, Student Services and International, this individual will:
  • Play a pivotal role in continuing the development of programs and services that support the success of all Indigenous students.
  • Responsible for further developing the Indigenous culture within the organization. 
  • Will work closely with First Nations communities, organizations, associations, and government funding agencies and departments to maintain and develop effective partnerships and agreements to also continue our journey to truth and reconciliation.
  • Functions as a senior member of the Human Resources, Student Services and International Division and is accountable for providing direction, leadership and effective management and administration for Wabnode through the establishment and delivery of quality programs and services to Indigenous students both on and off campus 
  • The Director is an advocate of and a liaison with First Nations Communities, Organizations, Associations and Government funding departments for the development of effective partnership agreements for the identification and delivery of community programs.
  • The incumbent is responsible for preparing, implementing and reporting on the annual Postsecondary Education Fund for Aboriginal Learners (PEFAL) submission to the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
Required:
  • As a bona fide occupational requirement, and under Section 24 (1) of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the College will be giving preference to applicants who identify as being one of Indigenous heritage (including First Nations, Inuit, Métis).
  • Undergraduate Degree (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Minimum seven (7) years of related experience
  • Solid understanding of First Nations governance structure and the social, cultural, economic and political aspirations of the Indigenous Communities
  • Experience with budget development and control
  • Curriculum development and review experience
  • Experience in HR Management
