Planning Manager

WSP is currently seeking a Planning Manager to join our Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design Team in our Winnipeg, Manitoba office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership of the Planning team, overseeing proposals, projects, team development and growth, and business financials. Our Planning team are involved in all aspects of land use planning, and we pride ourselves on successfully diversifying our project experience and effectively delivering projects of a high standard, that exceed clients' expectations. As the Manager of the Team, you will bring a strategic mindset, good business acumen and diverse planning experience to the team, and will enjoy a challenging, fast paced, and dynamic business environment.

What you can expect to do here:
- Identify strategically important business growth opportunities, build, and grow client relationships, diversify, and develop the team's skill sets and depth of experience.
- Provide clear leadership. Establish the overall direction for the planning team, in alignment with business unit strategy, and work with the Planning team and the leadership team achieve that strategy.
- Manage and oversee a wide variety of interesting and diverse projects, sometimes taking on different defined roles and responsibilities to achieve positive outcomes.
- Support business development activities including the preparation of bids, pricing and content development.
- Monitor project budgets and schedules and identify risks early on so that they can be managed effectively.
- Support mentorship and motivate the team to achieve high-quality deliverables that are representative of WSP's strong commitment to quality.
- Exercises tact, diplomacy, and professionalism when interacting with external stakeholders, clients, the public, politicians, and colleagues.
- Identify project challenges, risks, opportunities, and work with the team to mitigate and overcome them.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- A highly motivated, organized, flexible, and enthusiastic team player committed to upholding a reputation for delivering high quality service.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, Excellent written and oral communication skills and time management skills.
- A university degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, or Public Policy, Geography, or a similar degree.
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in a municipal or environmental planning business setting, a demonstrated knowledge of land use planning legislation and policy, and application of that knowledge to real world projects.
- Demonstrated public consultation experience, including experience facilitating stakeholder and public meetings.
- Strong project management experience with complex municipal or land development planning projects comprised of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information.
- Full Membership, or eligibility for Full Membership, of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
