Capital Planning Specialist

About the Role
The Capital Planner will be responsible for providing expertise in the assessment, prioritization and recommendation of capital projects and to support the development, monitoring and management of capital plans for selected client departments within a capital portfolio. This role reports directly to the Portfolio Manager and is a key member of the Central Capital program team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance on capital project planning and delivery to ensure alignment with departmental goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Conduct thorough assessments of capital projects to identify priorities and make recommendations for resource allocation.
- Support the development and implementation of capital plans, including budgeting, scheduling and risk management.
- Work closely with project managers and technical staff to ensure successful project delivery and minimize risks.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in a related field such as project management, engineering, architecture, facility management, or business administration.
- Extensive experience in capital planning and/or project management, including design and construction, contract management and managing interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of capital planning and project management and demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge to assigned projects.
- Strong planning, research, and analytical skills to identify and integrate relevant information into action plans.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills to prepare complex technical documents for a variety of audiences.
- Experience using Project Management software.
