The Law Society of the Northwest Territories ("LSNT") is seeking a dedicated and motivated candidate to join our team. The Law Society of the Northwest Territories is responsible for governing the legal profession, in the public interest, according to the Legal Profession Act and regulations, as well as the LSNT's Rules, Policies and Code of Professional Conduct.

The Law Society is in the process of expanding. This term position could be extended to a permanent position in the future.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Office Manager provides support to the Law Society Executive, Membership and Law Society Staff in the key areas identified below.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support: Provide support to other departments, including handling correspondence, managing schedules and organizing meetings. Office Organization: Maintain office systems and procedures to efficient operations including filing systems, management of internal software and digital filing. Communication: Serve as a point of contact for internal and external communications, answering phone calls and emails and directing inquiries to the appropriate person. Financial Administration: Manage financial tasks such as coordinating accounts payable with an external Accounting Firm, overseeing and managing receivables and processing expense reports. Data Management: Assist with management of data collected through internal software and record-keeping to ensure accuracy and accessibility of information. Committee Support: Provide support to committee members as needed, including coordinating meetings, materials, travel and assisting with special projects.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Executive Director and Membership Coordinator as needed Coordinate Events Manage Social Media and Newsletter Coordinate projects with external service providers

Qualifications

This position requires advanced administrative, communication and computer skills as well as an understanding of financial processes, including experience with basic financial tasks. The work requires incumbent to process the experience, knowledge and ability to operate numerous computer software programs simultaneously. These skills are normally acquired through the completion of Grade 12 and an administrative degree, diploma or equivalent as well as a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related field.

Required Qualifications:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with office equipment and software. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks. Ability to identify issues, propose solutions and make sound decisions independently. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to take on new challenges. Maintain confidentiality, discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information and interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in management. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes. Familiarity with self-regulated professions Understanding of the dynamics relevant to northern communities.
