Deputy Fire Chief of Training and Maintenance
Under the direction of the Fire Chief, The Deputy Fire Chief of Training and Maintenance is a Chief Operational Officer for the organization performing administrative coordinating and operational emergency roles. This position is responsible for the Training and Maintenance of the Department of Emergency Services. The goal of the position is protecting life, property, and environment through proper fire prevention and suppression, medical services and other emergency services as required and to provide our citizens’ with professional and competent emergency services personnel in order to protect life and property through efficient and well-structured fire, ambulance and dispatch services.

In addition, this position is responsible for the compliance and enforcement of codes, by-laws, standards and regulations; including occupational health and safety pertaining to fire, ambulance and dispatch services.

The successful candidate should possess the following :

Minimum Level of Education/Training: NFPA 1021 Fire Officer II - Certified Emergency Medical Responder - Certified Firefighter 1 and 2 with Hazmat Operations (NFPA 472 or 1072) – Certified (NFPA 1001) Proof of Grade 12 completion NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver Operator NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor II
Minimum Level of Experience: 7 - 10 years progressive experience as an Incident Commander including experience as a fire service officer, fire service Instructor, participating in pre-hospital medical care, acting as and peer responder. Addition concurrent experience in administrative and operations management activities is required. 3 yrs. Experience in operational, financial management (especially with volunteer firefighters) Certifications in the safety related courses as outlined in the minimum level of education above to meet the requirements also set by WSCC The ability to speak and write in English

Chef adjoint du service des incendies chargé de la formation et de la maintenance
Sous la direction du chef des pompiers, le chef adjoint du service des incendies chargé de la formation et de la maintenance occupe un rôle de directeur des opérations de l’organisme, assurant des fonctions administratives, de coordination et d’intervention en situation d’urgence. La personne titulaire de ce poste est responsable de la formation et de la maintenance au sein des services d’urgence. L’objectif de ce poste est de protéger la vie, les biens et l’environnement par la prévention et l’extinction des incendies, les services médicaux et les autres services d’urgence nécessaires. Il vise également à garantir aux citoyens un personnel d’urgence professionnel et compétent, capable de protéger la vie et les biens grâce à des services d’incendie, d’ambulance et de répartition efficaces et bien organisés.

De plus, la personne titulaire de ce poste est responsable de la conformité et de l’application des codes, des règlements municipaux, des normes et des règlements, y compris la santé et la sécurité au travail, en ce qui concerne les services d’incendie, d’ambulance et de répartition.

La personne idéale possède les qualités suivantes :

Niveau minimal d’éducation/de formation : NFPA 1021 Officier de corps de sapeurs-pompiers II – Certifié Répondant médical d’urgence – Certifié Pompier niveau 1 et 2 avec spécialisation en opérations impliquant des matières dangereuses (NFPA 472 ou 1072) – Certifié (NFPA 1001) Preuve d’obtention du diplôme de fin d’études secondaires NFPA 1002 Conducteur/opérateur du véhicule d’intervention NFPA 1041 Instructeur des services d’incendie II
Niveau minimal d’expérience : 7 à 10 ans d’expérience progressive en tant que commandant d’incident, comprenant une expérience en tant qu’officier des services d’incendie, instructeur des services d’incendie, participant aux soins médicaux préhospitaliers, et intervenant auprès de collègues. Une expérience simultanée en gestion administrative et des opérations est également requise. 3 ans d’expérience en gestion opérationnelle et financière (en particulier avec des pompiers volontaires) Certifications dans les cours liés à la sécurité comme indiqué dans le niveau minimum d’éducation ci-dessus, pour répondre aux exigences définies par la WSCC La capacité de parler et d’écrire en anglais
Atouts : Diplôme universitaire ou collégial, baccalauréat Expérience antérieure en tant qu’officier en chef NFPA 1021 Officier de sapeur-pompier III et IV – Certifié Inspecteur des incendies I (NFPA 1031) Instructeur de lutte contre les incendies en conditions réelles (NFPA 1403) Éducateur en sécurité-incendie et prévention des accidents (NFPA 1035) NFPA 1006 Secouriste technique (sauvetage en corde et désincarcération automobile) Certification médicale PCP ou supérieure Formation en gestion du stress post-incident ou en secourisme en santé mentale 5 ans d’expérience en tant qu’intervenant en gestion du stress à la suite d’un incident critique (GSIC) La capacité de parler et d’écrire en inuktitut et en français
