Reporting to: Director of Engineering

Your role in the mission:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to provide conceptual, preliminary and final design of systems and components for our fusion stellarators, including Project Infinity and our FPP.

Project Infinity is a medium scale stellarator that will demonstrate the performance of a highly optimized stellarator magnetic field configuration as well as the viability of high temperature superconducting stellarator magnets to produce that field configuration.

Following successful design, fabrication, and operation of Project Infinity, Type One Energy will begin construction of a Fusion Pilot Plant (FPP). This plant will demonstrate production of electrical power in the 100 MW range with a closed fuel cycle.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will work closely with a team of highly skilled Engineers and Scientists to help in our mission to power the world with clean fusion energy

  • Translate design requirements into functional stellarator components and systems.
  • Develop system and component designs and associated technical specifications for our stellarator systems.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance.
  • Work closely with electrical, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and perform mechanical analyses to ensure design integrity.
  • Analyze and align the interface requirements between and among stellarator systems.

What you'll need:

  • Experience with design of first of a kind components.
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Design and Analysis software
  • Experience with design of fusion energy systems and equipment is desirable
  • Experience with Siemens NX CAD software is highly desirable.
  • Experience operating within a PDM environment in CAD
