As a Mechanical Design Lead, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will lead a team of designers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities:- Lead and manage a team of Mechanical Designers, delegating tasks and providing coaching and support.
- Review and approve design drawings and specifications prepared by designers, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company guidelines.
- Perform load calculations using specialized software to determine the sizing and capacity of mechanical equipment.
- Select and specify mechanical equipment, collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare detailed design drawings and documentation in AutoCAD or REVIT, utilizing best practices for clarity and accuracy.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within the overall project design.
- Identify potential design challenges and develop innovative solutions to overcome them.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of company-wide design standards and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with a focus on HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations related to mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
