Therapeutic Assistant

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Therapeutic Assistant to join our team in the OPCZ Neuro Science Acute Care Rec Therap department. As a Therapeutic Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing health, health promotion, and therapeutic services to our rehabilitation population.

About the Role

  • Assist in the provision of health, health promotion, and therapeutic services to the rehabilitation population
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team in carrying out individual treatment programs
  • Communicate patient-specific information to enhance the level of knowledge of the treatment team

About You

  • Grade XII plus a two-year certificate or diploma from a Recreation or Therapeutic Recreation Program
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current St. John Ambulance First Aid course preferred
  • Current certification in Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is an asset
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

What We Offer

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • $23.86 Hourly
  • Benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan
