As a key member of the Aspire Bakeries team, the Senior Manager, EHSS Operations will play a critical role in ensuring the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular EHS audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and develop corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with bakery leadership to drive positive cultural changes and achieve EHS regulatory compliance, organizational goals, and continuous improvements.
  • Champion a safety culture with a zero-accident mentality and develop a strong relationship with employees to facilitate employee-led behavior-based safety processes.
  • Lead bakery teams and conduct regular environmental and safety audits, identify, and evaluate hazards in the workplace, and recommend solutions to minimize or eliminate risk.
  • Help manage and maintain existing Environmental Compliance programs (PSM, SWPPP, Air, Water, Waste, etc.) and research federal, state, and local regulations to define existing and upcoming legal obligations and requirements of associated programs and policies.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of safety and environmental compliance and develop strategies to address these opportunities.
  • Identify, build, and manage site EHS personnel and personnel performing the activities throughout the organization.
  • Support all accident and near-miss investigations to uncover root cause and track completion of corrective actions.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety performance results and help manage workers' compensation cases with bakery leadership.
  • Ability to travel at least 25% of the time to visit and support bakeries in both Canada and the USA.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of comprehensive environmental and safety experience with an extensive background in manufacturing environments, preferably in the food industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Environmental, Health, and Safety Regulations.
  • Experience supporting facilities in both Canada and the USA is a plus.
  • M.S. in Occupational Safety or a related discipline is good to have.
  • Certifications (ASP, CSP, or Canada Equivalent) also a plus.

  • The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to traffic hazards, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a warehouse and walk-in freezer environment where temperatures can vary from extreme cold to very warm.
  • The noise level in the work environment is often moderate to loud.
