The Community Withdrawal Support Counsellor will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with addiction and concurrent mental health issues. This position requires a strong understanding of addiction and mental health, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group support to clients in community settings, including home visits and meetings with service providers.
- Develop and implement withdrawal support plans, monitoring withdrawal symptoms and providing education and support to clients and their families.
- Collaborate with primary care providers to facilitate withdrawal and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Utilize evidence-informed practices, including Motivational Interviewing, Stage-Matched Intervention, Trauma-Informed approaches, CBT, and relapse prevention.
- Make referrals to internal and external programs or services as appropriate and complete comprehensive and collaborative discharge planning.
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or other relevant university education and at least 2 years of direct experience in withdrawal management services, community-based addiction services, or opioid substitution clinics.
- Previous experience working with addiction is mandatory, with experience in mental health/concurrent disorders and trauma an asset.
- CSC Clearance conducted by PWGS Canada, Standard First Aid/CPR Level C, valid G Driver's License, and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
- Reliable vehicle and willingness to transport program participants if required, proof of insurance with at least $2 million in general liability and declared scope of vehicle use.
