Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Level III Welding Inspector. The ASNT Level III is a welding inspection specialist with expert knowledge of weld inspection and practical aspects of quality control. They are responsible for administration and training for all aspects of the businesses ASNT visual inspection program. Additionally, The ASNT Level III will have the ability to complete welding and structural quality control tasks and provide welding and structural training.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Red Seal in Welding or Technical Diploma in relevant subject or similar
    • ASNT Level III in Visual Inspection or willingness to work towards
    • ASNT Level II in Visual Inspection, other disciplines are desirable
    • CWB Level II Inspector
  • Experience: 5 years in a Welding or Inspection role
  • Ability to delivery technical courses
  • Shipbuilding / Manufacturing Knowledge related to welding
  • Ability to manage documentation and training records using MS Office Software
  • Demonstrate knowledge relating practical aspects of welding and inspection
  • Technical Communication and Influencing Skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information in accessible format
  • Organizational skills
  • Leadership of cohort during training courses
  • Office based with requirement for regular shop floor presence to support production welding and NDE
  • Provision of out of hours support when required

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
