The Canadian Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that helps people and communities in Canada and around the world in times of need.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Facilities Managers to support facilities activities in Western Canada.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and renovations.
  • Monitor performance of HVAC and other major building systems.
  • Ensure work performed by contractors meets required standards.
  • Assist with sustaining security and safety at all facilities.
  • Provide administrative support to Senior Manager, Facilities - Western Canada and Director, Real Estate & Facilities Management.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Respond to facility needs as outlined in Occupational Health and Safety committee guidelines.
  • Work with Coordinators from Volunteer Resources and Customer Service Support Dept to assist with daily office activities.
  • Maintain contractor list and maintenance and repair log for each location.
  • Track and report on contract expiries.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one-year post-secondary certification in a related field and at least three years of job-related work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial building maintenance and repairs, janitorial services, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of contracting and procurement of facility-related services.
  • Fluency in English is required, French is an asset.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Physical demands of the position require lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license and valid First Aid Certificate or willingness to take training.
  • Experience in working with a diverse population and understanding of cultural issues.
  • Certification and working knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.
Working Conditions:
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call, carry a cell phone, and respond to emergency/disaster-related requests.
  • The majority of the work is performed in an office or work-from-home environment.
  • Travel of up to 25% may be required.
