Job Title: Transit Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Transit Operator to join our team at Conservation Halton. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating transit tractors and shuttle trailers to transport passengers to various parking lot locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate transit tractors and shuttle trailers in a safe and efficient manner
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Provide direction to manage automotive and pedestrian traffic to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow
  • Greet and assist guests, providing general information and answering questions as needed
  • Assist with general maintenance, snow removal, and cleanup duties, as well as set-up, takedown, and operations for special events and functions
  • Work in accordance with Conservation Halton's Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
Requirements:
  • Experience in operating farm tractors and wagons
  • Experience with providing parking direction and parking lot operations is preferred
  • Ability to direct both vehicle and pedestrian traffic
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team member and independently
  • Flexibility and ability to assume a variety of tasks as required
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License, minimum Class 'G', with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required
  • Successful candidates must provide own CSA-approved safety footwear prior to first day of employment
