Job Summary

The Management in Development (MID) position at First Transit Canada is a transitional role designed to prepare individuals for management positions. As a MID, you will work closely with management staff to develop your skill set and take part in rotations with various departments, including dispatch, road supervision, safety, finance, and HR.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Your Skill Set: Work closely with management staff to develop your skills and knowledge.
  • Department Rotations: Participate in rotations with multiple departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business.
  • Build Partnerships: Develop partnerships with location and corporate staff to drive business growth.
  • Showcase Your Management Foundation: Demonstrate your strong management foundation and knowledge of the business.
  • Learning Assignments: Complete learning assignments in areas such as safety, finance and accounting, operations, maintenance, security, sales, human resources, labor relations, and legal.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED with 3-4 years of Transportation/Logistics experience and/or 1-2 years of supervisory experience. A Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Skills and Requirements: 1-2 years of previous experience as a retail manager or supervisor, ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, active learning, proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and a valid State Driver's License.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Office and Field Environment: The incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors, utilize standard office equipment, access filing systems/cabinets, and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
