Financial System Applications Developer

Join our team at Marsh's Technical Centre of Excellence in Halifax, Nova Scotia, as a Financial System Applications Developer. This role is part of our Captive Solutions group, where you will work closely with global business stakeholders and technical staff to design and implement new features, enhancements, and changes to our world-class, global insurance accounting system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and modifying logic in existing applications to fix errors, improve performance, and upgrade interfaces
  • Coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining Web and/or Desktop software applications
  • Translating business requirements into product designs and technical specifications
  • Writing user help and support documentation
  • Clearly and regularly communicating on projects with management and colleagues
  • Recommending improvements to existing programs as necessary

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics / Computer Science or a similar technical discipline
  • 3+ years' experience working in the Financial or Insurance Industry
  • 3+ years of Full Stack development experience using ASP.Net and ExtJs (Angular/ReactJs)
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with Relational Database Systems (Server SQL)
  • Comfortable with vanilla JavaScript
  • Familiar with the Model-View-ViewModel and Model-View-Controller patterns
  • Good DOM knowledge and familiar with CSS
  • Familiarity with Software Development Methodologies
  • Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Proven proficiency using VB.NET and/or C#
  • A self-starter with good written and oral communications skills capable of working both independently and with a global team
