Island Health is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Victoria on Vancouver Island. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing expert care to patients with respiratory conditions.

About the Role

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assist physicians, liaison nurses, and healthcare professionals with care planning, discharge planning, follow-up, and support for complex respiratory clients. You will provide expert care by assessing client and family needs, evaluating home-based care suitability, and creating individualized care plans.

  • Assist with care planning, discharge planning, and follow-up for complex respiratory clients
  • Provide expert care by assessing client and family needs, evaluating home-based care suitability, and creating individualized care plans
  • Offer recommendations on respiratory equipment and therapy, arrange necessary home equipment, and adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide consultation and training for clients requiring home mechanical ventilation, perform diagnostic tests upon request, and maintain detailed treatment records
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated client care
Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized Respiratory Therapy education program
  • Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) certification
  • Minimum of 3 years' respiratory care experience within the past 5 years, in a variety of treatment settings
  • Specific training and practice in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation, and sleep disorders
  • Knowledge of current technologies and treatments for acute and chronic respiratory conditions
  • Current membership or eligible for membership in the B.C. Society of Respiratory Therapists
  • Valid BC driver's license
