Senior Advisor - Global Mobility

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Global Mobility to deliver operational excellence and provide subject matter expertise and advice on international assignments outside of Canada as well as on hiring local personnel for our international offices. You will also be expected to review and find opportunities to enhance the expatriate program, while providing strong leadership and administrative oversight . This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Total Rewards team.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Compensation, you will:
  • Play a key role in supporting the business to ensure that the right talent can be mobilised at the right time internationally;
  • Be seen as a trusted business partner and subject matter expert in Global Mobility, delivering a service managing expatriates in approximately 5 countries managing our journalists, producers and videographers working in international roles in the media;
  • Advise the business and Human Resources on the correct application of HR policies;
  • Provide case management for expatriates throughout the duration of their assignment / transfer, including initiating and coordinating various services (immigration, tax, payroll) with our third party service provider;
  • Work in partnership with Human Resources, Finance and business leaders from both CBC and Radio-Canada with respect to the management of assignments, reviewing and approving assignment documentation and payroll related activities as needed;
  • Work with all key stakeholders, including third party providers, to ensure Global Mobility services are effectively delivered;
  • Oversee complex tax processes and engage with relevant stakeholders to achieve compliance;
  • Coordinate the year-end process with the different stakeholders (tax provider, payroll, finance) and coordination of the TEQ process with the provider;
  • Ensure governance and compliance with all policy, tax and immigration requirements;
  • Manage the administration of the company's international assignment program including international relocation programs and expatriate benefits;
  • Manage the hiring of locally hired employees in areas such as employment contracts, HR matters, coordination with the provider for payroll and immigration;
  • Assist the business in identifying suitable locations for establishing temporary or permanent international bureaus taking into consideration business requirements and legal constraints such as immigration, taxation and labor laws;
  • Collaborate with international consultants on international compensation and benefits design and strategy as required;
  • Be expected to work on broad-based compensation and benefits initiatives as necessary collaborating with other subject matter experts in the Total Rewards team.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Administration or Business, Master's degree preferred;
  • 10 plus years of experience in Total Rewards and Global Mobility;
  • Fluently bilingual, written and spoken;
  • Significant previous experience with global mobility principles and policies in a complex organisation;
  • In-depth understanding of expatriate remuneration, benefits, assignment cost estimates, balance sheets, payroll and tax equalisation methodology;
  • Extensive experience in resolving issues in a highly complex legislative context across multiple jurisdictions (primarily expatriate tax);
  • Experience with immigration processes across the world, particularly Europe, and the US;
  • Ability to build strong local partnership with both global vendors, monitoring and auditing performance and compliance;
  • Experience on managing or advising on local hire payroll in overseas locations;
  • Experience in the design of Compensation and/or Benefits programs and processes;
  • Ability to influence and drive results within all levels of the organization;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the design and delivery of communication programs;
  • Experience with vendor evaluation and selection;
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills;
  • A proven track record in leading projects within the realm of Global Mobility and Total Rewards;
  • Track record of successfully influencing senior leaders and experience in working regularly and comfortably with high-level individual contributors and leaders across multiple functions;
  • Ability to work independently to drive and manage projects across multiple functions and client groups, utilizing subject matter expertise and knowledge of both internal and external business practices to improve the employee's experience;
  • Experience in designing programs and processes that have a company-wide impact;
  • Experience advising and partnering with HR business partners and leaders on program rollouts;
  • Ability to manage change effectively by always being mindful of technology and business process implications.
