Job Title: Dietitian

About the Role: The Dietitian is responsible for providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, clients, and communities. This includes advising on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors and providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities.
  • Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors.
  • Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program.
  • Contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers and sharing nutrition expertise.
  • Ensure quality and continuity of care and support a range of healthcare services.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with major concentration in Foods and Nutrition required.
  • Dietetic Internship Program required.
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian preferred.
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience an asset.
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Current WHMIS an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations.
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Permanent Full-time / 75 Hours Biweekly.
  • Hours include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • $32.94 - $43.42 Hourly.
  • Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
