About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Nutrition and Food Services Manager to support the Director, Nutrition and Food Services, Eastern Zone. As a key member of the NFS leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all aspects of operations and day-to-day management of NFS within multiple sites of the Eastern Zone.

The Manager will champion the integration of nutrition care and food service, providing nutrition care services to patients, residents, and clients in institutional, ambulatory, and community settings. This includes collaborating on provincial initiatives and standards, such as the implementation of the Nova Scotia Health Healthy Eating Policy at applicable sites.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, completion of an accredited dietetic internship program, and membership in a professional association, such as Dietitians of Canada. A minimum of five years' progressive management experience in healthcare as a dietitian, along with clinically related practice experience, is required.

The successful candidate will be able to interpret statistical data, monitor quality and performance indicators, and build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships. Experience managing in a unionized environment and knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and standards are also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and control all aspects of NFS operations and day-to-day management
  • Champion the integration of nutrition care and food service
  • Provide nutrition care services to patients, residents, and clients
  • Collaborate on provincial initiatives and standards
  • Manage and maintain quality and performance indicators
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program
  • Membership in a professional association, such as Dietitians of Canada
