Job Summary: We are seeking two experienced Area Supervisors to oversee the daily operations of our Materials Management Department, ensuring efficient inventory management and labor practices.

We are looking for individuals with strong supervisory experience in a unionized environment to join our team. As an Area Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of your assigned work location(s), ensuring appropriate materials management practices and principles are in place. Your duties will include:

  • Overseeing and managing labor for stocking, storing, and issuing materials and parts to various TTC locations, divisions, or Material Management customers
  • Filing and maintaining records, supervising unionized employees, and maintaining data in the ERP system
  • Overseeing stock discrepancies, performing inventory control counts, and participating in budget activities for the assigned area
  • Monitoring performance measures and taking appropriate action to adhere to them
  • Liaising with the Inventory Planning section, internal and external manufacturing, and user representatives to ensure expectations are met
  • Ensuring the security of the stores areas, proper operating condition of the store, and completion of various monthly reports

As an Area Supervisor, you will also be responsible for coordinating the delivery of inventory parts to end-user departments, investigating and reconciling stock discrepancies, and forecasting future material needs. You may be required to be on call coverage on weekends and participate in the JHSC as instructed by management.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of materials management and materials handling principles, methods, and practices
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise a unionized workforce and administer discipline in accordance with the Collective Agreement and TTC policies
  • Ability to motivate and assess a skilled unionized workforce
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence and ability to use own automobile to travel to various locations
