About the opportunity:
As the Operations Manager, you will provide strategic guidance in a customer-centric environment while managing a diverse portfolio aimed at achieving operational and performance excellence. You will oversee the delivery of program and business administration, integrity, modernization, and customer-centric information services, including production, customer service, data integrity, and data stewardship.

Please note:
The Operations Manager needs to be physically present at the office.
We may use the outcome of this competition to fill future manager positions within the division.

About the Vital Events Registry Services Branch: This branch, also known as the Office of the Registrar General, is responsible for registering important life events like births, deaths, marriages, name changes, and adoptions in Ontario. It also issues certificates for these events and keeps track of vital statistics for Ontario.

• Proven experience in inspiring, engaging, motivating, developing, and mentoring professional staff on high-profile initiatives.

• Demonstrated ability to incorporate values of inclusion and diversity across all elements of your management style.

• In-depth understanding of human resources theories and practices to lead talent management and succession planning activities and uphold performance standards.

• Experience in managing frontline operations and customer-focused environments.

Issues management and analytical skills
• Demonstrated skills in developing options for resolving customer service issues and addressing complex and often contentious social policy issues.

• Experience in managing issues related to all functions of the unit, including liaising with ministry staff and experts to resolve program, policy, and operational issues.

• Demonstrated skills in monitoring performance metrics to assess production and data integrity, and evaluating unit performance, efficiency, and effectiveness to ensure adherence to standards for consistent service and organizational excellence.

• Expertise in providing in-depth research and direction on the development of new processes within IT systems for new products to ensure efficient and accurate delivery.

Relationship management and communication skills
• Proven oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with senior management, executives, external clients, partners, and stakeholders, and to manage relationships with them.

• Well-developed written communication skills to prepare reports, correspondence, briefing materials, presentations, and business cases.

• Excellent presentation skills to deliver effective briefings and training.

Project management and other related skills
• Knowledge of policy development and the decision-making processes within a political context.

• Ability to interpret and apply legislation relevant to the unit's operations.

• Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and knowledge of controllership and procurement practices and practices to effectively manage, control, and provide oversight to branch projects and unit budgets.

• Expertise in project management methodologies to successfully manage the delivery of program plans, initiatives, and goals.
