As a Senior Manager, Operations you will be:

  • Managing the delivery of tasks and projects in alignment with MT>3's strategy and requirements.
  • Providing guidance and direction to direct reports including the delivery of timely feedback and recognition, managing change, developing potential and acting on performance gaps, and managing workflow coordination, vacation and overtime, as required.
  • Hiring - Support SVP and Partner in recruitment, selection, and orientation, helping ensure staffing level meet functional area needs.
  • Providing continual support to Partner and SVP, including assisting with personnel issues, attending to long-term planning, and assessing the need for additional resources.
  • Engagement - Supporting a positive workplace culture through collaboration and teamwork.
  • Preparing annual and quarterly budgets and supporting Partner and SVP in delivery of operations program within approved budget parameters.
  • Collaborating with and support SVP's work with firm Human Resource and Finance teams.
  • Managing financial reporting, and billing process, with oversight of MT>3 Financial Analyst and Billing Analysts.
  • Managing office operations, including MT>3 receptionist and maintaining a kitchen area, office supplies, vendor management.
  • Liaising for MT>3 with external building, security, and facilities managers.
  • Collaborating effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including adapting communication style and message to audience, and achieving influence with all MT>3 team members, relevant McCarthy Tetrault team members, Contract review team lawyers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Performing other related duties and responsibilities as required.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including at least 5 years managing people and operations, ideally gained in a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading change management initiatives.
  • Outstanding client-facing skills and client orientation.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated people and project leadership skills - able to build relationships with others and to gain confidence of stakeholders.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment and to maintain a professional attitude.
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with excellent analytical skills - able to quickly absorb information on a variety of complex issues (financial and non-financial) and to provide insights and advice on key issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and process management skills, including superior problem-solving and root cause identification skills.
  • Experience working with and/or managing remote teams is an asset.
