Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Cook to join our dynamic Dietary department at West Park Health Centre, a 69-bed long-term care facility in St. Catharines. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring our Residents receive nutritious and delicious meals, prepared and served with love.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and prepare food according to standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Assist the Food Services Manager in their absence, taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Monitor food supplies and recommend corrective action when necessary.
  • Coach Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serving activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and collaborate with other departments to meet Resident needs.

Requirements:

  • Holds a chef training certificate, culinary management certificate, or diploma from a recognized college.
  • Possesses a current Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Successfully passes tuberculosis (TB) testing.
  • Obtains a current and valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police Reference Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Cook Trade Certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to provide direction and lead others in a fast-paced environment.
