Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Computer Support Specialist to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. As a key member of our Client Service Centre, you will provide top-notch IT support services to our clients, ensuring their technical needs are met with efficiency and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for distributed computers, mobile devices, and audio-visual equipment in Research Centres/Branches/IRAP of NRC.
  • SOURCE, implement, and troubleshoot hardware and software services provided to clients.
  • Assist IT team members in improving general operating efficiency, creating, editing, and maintaining documentation, and maintaining software.
  • Provide IT support to computer users, utilizing desktop and management tools.
Requirements
  • College diploma in Computer Science or related field.
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science from a recognized University considered an asset.
  • Significant experience in providing desktop and technical support to users both locally and remotely, including problem analysis and resolution, in a Windows-based environment.
  • Experience using a Service management application to manage events, incidents, and service requests, asset management, and documenting knowledge.
  • Significant experience in supporting Microsoft desktop operating systems in Windows 10 and 11, including imaging software.
  • Significant experience installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop hardware, software, and peripherals.

Assessment Criteria
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing based on the language requirements of the position.
  • Ability to use reasoning and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting of IT devices.
  • Knowledge of service management platforms, such as Axios Assyst, Infoman, Altiris, Footprints, etc.
  • Knowledge of ITIL core processes, such as Incident management, Service Request fulfillment, Knowledge management, and asset management.
