Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Grace Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching respiratory therapy services to patients, while adhering to the employer's mission, values, and management philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respiratory therapy services to patients, including therapeutic, diagnostic, technical, and teaching services.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans for patients.
  • Conduct respiratory assessments and make recommendations for treatment.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators and oxygen therapy devices.

Requirements:

  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT approved equivalent.
  • Current registration with the MARRT.
  • Current registration/membership in the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) is preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the WRHA policy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines and demonstrate professional judgment and initiative.
  • Knowledge of the physiological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of patient care.
  • Ability to organize and complete assignments with a minimum of supervision.
  • Willingness to adapt to new concepts, techniques, and best practice in the academic and clinical fields of health care.
  • Experience with computers, including office productivity and e-mail software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity are required.
  • Ability to stand and walk and perform manual ventilation with one or both hands for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to run to emergencies.
  • Ability to lift heavy medical equipment, including measuring devices, monitors, and other equipment.
  • Ability to push wheeled medical equipment.
  • Ability to move gas cylinders.
  • Ability to assist with the positioning of clients.
