About the Role

Gore Mutual Insurance is seeking a skilled Claims Adjuster to join our Recovery team. As a Claims Adjuster, you will play a critical role in handling Recovery files of small to moderate severity and complexity, for all lines of business including Auto, Property, Commercial, and Liability files.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, review, and evaluate new claims to ensure that required expert vendors are involved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that responsible parties are placed on notice and send Demand and Subrogation documents to the responsible parties.
  • Prepare detailed reports for the Recovery Team Leader or Specialist for settlement authority requests and abandonment requests.
  • Attend settlement conferences, mediation, pre-trials, and trials as required with our legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with and provide direction to front-line staff based on the claim circumstances around what evidence is required to enhance the chances of a successful recovery.
  • Review all invoices received for accuracy and legitimacy, issuing payment accordingly.
  • Negotiate directly with responsible parties, their insurers, or other representatives to arrive at the highest possible settlement amount, in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of Subrogation experience is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of handling Auto, Property, and/or Casualty claims is required.
  • Secondary School & Community College completion is a requirement.
  • Completion of an Undergraduate Degree is preferred.
  • CIP or Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional designation obtained is an asset.
  • Strong communication (written and oral), collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
