Role Overview
As a Claims Consultant within our Public Entities division, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding municipal and community service organizations through a tailored insurance program. Your contributions will help ensure their success, and we take pride in this responsibility. In this position, you will navigate both standard and complex risks while delivering exceptional value-added services. Your expertise is essential to our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive claims expertise to enhance departmental guidelines and programs aimed at effectively managing loss expenses and ensuring consistent application of settlement policies.
- Participate in special initiatives to evaluate the Claims function and devise strategies for process improvements and personnel development to better serve our clients.
- Establish key performance indicators to assess service levels and the effectiveness of Claims personnel.
- Conduct regular audits of claims files to verify compliance with company standards, reporting findings to management and utilizing results to enhance Claims operations.
- Lead the creation of technical training programs for claims staff by identifying needs, developing content, and making informed recommendations.
- Offer consultation on complex claims files, providing technical guidance, assessing exposure, facilitating Alternative Dispute Resolution, and attending arbitration hearings as necessary.
- Assist in interpreting relevant case law.
Qualifications:
- A university degree or a combination of relevant training and experience.
- A minimum of ten years of experience across all lines, including casualty liability and property.
- Litigation experience is advantageous.
- Technical proficiency in claims management, with extensive experience in coverage analysis, investigation, and quantum evaluation.
- Familiarity with Alternative Dispute Resolution practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a flexible approach to adapting in a dynamic environment.
