Bilingual Interpretive Officer (Student Position)/ Agent(e) d'interprétation bilingue (poste d'étudiant)


(Summer position from April 29 to September 2, 2024)

Candidates must be enrolled in a post-secondary program and returning to post-secondary education in Fall 2024. Successful candidates will be required to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings throughout the summer.

Keeping Ontario's Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario's Parliament.

Together, we provide administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Legislative Assembly of Ontario seeks college and university students for the position of Bilingual Interpretive Officer. As part of our Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations Branch, in Toronto, ON, you will provide tours, customer service and information services within the Office of the Legislative Assembly.

What You'll Do
You'll act with integrity to:

Work collaboratively with internal and external clientsExercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public in a politically sensitive and non-partisan environment
You'll support our collaboration as you: Conduct tours and programs for varying audiences, in English and French, of the Legislative Building and its grounds about the history, parliamentary process, and art and architecture of the buildingRespond to inquiries at the public inquiry counter, and over the phone, providing general information about the Legislative Assembly and OntarioGreet and welcome visitors both inside and outside the buildingProvide service at the Legislative Gift Shop and support all areas of this multi-faceted branch
How You Qualify
You demonstrate excellence through your: Public speaking experience, experience giving presentations addressing audiences of varying sizes and interests, and experience working with the publicFlexibility, teamwork and excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to ensure a positive and memorable visitor experience and a high standard of customer service to all clients, as an outgoing and effective communicatorFluency in English and French
