This role is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of victims and witnesses of crime. As a Victim Witness Service Worker, you will provide critical support and services to those affected by crime, helping them navigate the complex criminal court process.

About the Role
  • Provide information, support, and assistance to clients, including needs assessment, crisis intervention, emotional support, and referrals.
  • Manage and coordinate a high volume of cases, ensuring timely and effective support to clients.
  • Act as a liaison and maintain networks to advocate for the needs and interests of clients.
  • Participate in projects, committees, and public education activities to promote awareness and understanding of victim services.
  • Prepare statistical reports to inform program development and improvement.

What We're Looking For
  • A valid class G Ontario driver's license with ability to travel within the region to satellite offices.
  • Demonstrated skills in providing services to victims of crime and/or marginalized/vulnerable clients, meeting their special needs.
  • Proven experience working with victims/witnesses of crime, specifically of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, homicide, and death-related cases.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated skills/ability in providing services to victims of crime and/or marginalized/vulnerable clients.
  • Ability to deal with client issues, interact with stakeholders, and recommend services improvements.
  • Ability to apply program policies, relevant legislation, and guidelines to assess clients' immediate risks, consider various alternatives, and select and apply the best plan of action to meet unique needs.
  • Ability to foster cooperation of services providers in implementing new or enhanced services and bring contentious matters to the Manager.
  • Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with a diverse clientele and liaise effectively with criminal justice partners.
  • Ability to network effectively with community agencies, work with diverse communities, and be sensitive to their needs.
  • Ability to write reports, case file summaries, and assist in developing and conducting training programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in an inclusive team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large caseload independently and prioritize work in an environment of demanding multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office Software and working with database systems.
