Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Victim Services Worker to join our team. As a Victim Services Worker, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to victims of crime, helping them navigate the complexities of the justice system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview and assess victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and other serious crimes to identify their needs and develop effective support plans.
  • Provide counseling and risk assessments to help victims make informed choices and increase their level of safety.
  • Guide victims through the criminal justice system process, ensuring they understand their options, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive support services to victims.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance victim services and support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent related Social Sciences degree.
  • Case management experience in the social services field.
  • Experience working with the effects of trauma, grief, and loss.
  • Experience working with victims of domestic violence or child abuse.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous culture and customs, including history and justice-related issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, high-stress work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures related to victim services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed. A valid Manitoba full-stage Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle are also required.
