Victim Support Specialist

The Manitoba Government is seeking a skilled and compassionate Victim Services Worker to join our team. As a Victim Services Worker, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to victims of crime, helping them navigate the complexities of the justice system.
Key Responsibilities- Interview and assess victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and other serious crimes to identify their needs and develop effective support plans.
- Provide counseling and risk assessments to help victims make informed choices and increase their level of safety.
- Guide victims through the criminal justice system process, ensuring they understand their options, rights, and responsibilities.
- Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive support services to victims.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance victim services and support.
- Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent related Social Sciences degree.
- Case management experience in the social services field.
- Experience working with the effects of trauma, grief, and loss.
- Experience working with victims of domestic violence or child abuse.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous culture and customs, including history and justice-related issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, high-stress work environment.
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures related to victim services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
