About the role

Shopify's mission is to make commerce better for everyone. Professional Services helps merchants achieve this goal through paid engagements. A CRO Consultant (CRO) provides research and provides best practice advice in the areas of frontend features, industry trends, and tooling based on data-driven insights with the goal of converting more visitors to buyers. They engage directly with merchants providing sound direction and advice on how to improve buyer-facing touchpoints and reduce friction in the shopping journey.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with merchants as well as shaping the future of the Professional Services team. The CRO Consultant role includes partnering with several internal teams such as other Professional Services stakeholders, Merchant Success Managers and a variety of Engineering and Product teams to craft, create, and communicate solutions for merchants.

What you get to do:
  • Support the acquisition and delivery of conversion rate optimization (CRO) projects through the phases: auditing, prioritization and iterative AB testing
  • Coordinate with other cross-functional team members to align deliverables of CRO projects and provide the best value possible
  • Communicate analytics insights and tell data-based stories that drive action
  • Provide merchants with direction and best practice advice tailored to their industry based on your expertise from other CRO projects
  • Create easy-to-understand delivery documents for CRO audit findings, prioritisations and next steps
  • Support merchants during the solutioning, testing and implementation phase of optimisations
  • Engage with both technical and non-technical merchant stakeholders
Your experience looks like:
  • Experience in e-commerce, with a focus on optimizing online shopping journeys that increase revenue and new customer acquisition
  • An analytical mindset and know relevant User Experience KPIs in e-commerce
  • The ability to think from the end users' perspective and analyze online store data and functionalities in-depth
Your experience would also include an expert level of proficiency in a few of the following areas:
  • Experience with approaches and tools in the area of A/B testing
  • In-depth quantitative analysis skills based on Google Analytics and Shopify Analytics data to identify areas for further CRO research
  • In-depth qualitative analysis skills to find optimisation recommendations and hypotheses statements based on competitor analysis, heatmaps, session recordings, device testing etc.
  • Masterful data storytelling skills with data visualization experience to present findings clearly and effectively
  • An understanding of SQL techniques for industry-level data insights from the Shopify ecosystem
  • Knowledge of experience-related tools and solutions in the areas of: site search and discovery, product recommendations, personalisation and targeting
  • Knowledge of Shopify's features, app ecosystem and frontend frameworks
